Sport and Business Industries Unite in Support of Athlete Transition

26 Jul London Sporting Club Plays Host to Industry Networking

Switch the Play’s latest networking event, which took place on Tuesday, July 11th at the prestigious London Sporting Club, Mayfair, was a fantastic demonstration of how the sports industry is uniting in its support of athletes through and beyond career transition.

During the evening, a discussion panel which included former Jamaican International, Wimbledon and Watford professional footballer Marcus Gayle and former 400m runner and Olympic Bronze medallist Andrew Steele, plus StP’s director and former Scottish International badminton player, Emma Mason discussed their personal transition experiences. They were joined by StP’s Board members, Chris Brindley MBE and Craig Donaldson who reemphasized how future athletes and players will benefit from the cohesive approach sport is taking towards athlete transition.

The room was buzzing with a great turnout of representatives from the sport and business community, including current and former athletes/players – a great result considering it was England’s World Cup semi-final night. Unfortunately, England’s result from the evening was not so positive.
