26 Feb Switch the Play announces new partnership with Golfing4Life
Switch The Play is proud to announce a new Partnership with Golfing4Life (G4L), to assist in developing their young golfers on and off the course. G4L is a not for profit organisation that supports the development of talented young golfers with an ability and determination to reach the pinnacle of their sport. See video here
Working together, the two organisations will develop a programme of opportunity that supports the next generation of professional golfers, helping them reach their full potential both during their sporting career and beyond. This will include developing their non-athletic identities and highlighting the many valuable skills inherent in successful sportspeople that are transferable to a professional life off-course.
Leon Lloyd, CEO at Switch the Play, says: “Sport provides many exciting opportunities for a talented youngster but it is important to prepare for life outside of sport. Only a small percentage of young golfers who show promise will go on to achieve a career in the sport that will sustain them financially for a lifetime so it is important to prepare for a time when they exit the sport and seek alternative opportunities. We will enhance the excellent work G4L is already delivering through our programme of masterclasses and our Switched On membership.”
The partnership launched in February 2018 and has been funded by event management and planning service company, Under The Posts.
Golfing 4 Life, Founder, James Byers, adds: “Providing direction and opportunity for young people brings responsibility. Leon Lloyd, Beth Tweddle and indeed all the team at Switch The Play are complete professionals with a real care for transition and education within elite sport. Our partnership with such a unique and revered initiative will bring many benefits to our amateurs and young professionals.”
