05 Jul Switch The Play Partners with Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation
Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation, the past players network of Wasps, men and women, amateur and professional, will be selecting a combination of current Wasps RFC (men), Wasps FC Ladie , Wasps Netball and Wasps Legends (former players) to benefit from StP’s leading athlete transition support services.
Initially Switch the Play will engage players through its educational Masterclass programme and 1-2-1 mentoring, both of which are designed to help athletes identify their unique skillset and potential career routes.
StP will also develop online profiles for the players via its Switched On platform: an exclusive network used by current and former athletes to showcase their achievements, both in and outside of sport, to potential employers.
Leon Lloyd, StP’s CEO says, “We think it is a positive move for Wasps Legends to recognise the importance of supporting both male and female, former and current players, and even extending the support to its netball players too.
“We are not aware of another sporting organisation that has done this before so it’s a great progression. It demonstrates the desire of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation to not only support their ex-players but current and future generations of athletes too. “
Genevieve Glover, Chair of the Wasps Legends Charitable Foundation says of the announcement: “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Switch the Play and provide a direct benefit to the Wasps family and engage with a broad range of individuals in the Legends community. Helping former and current players successfully transition into life outside sport is essential for their health and well-being and we are excited to be rolling this out to our first group from the Wasps family.”
