Meet George, our new Communications Intern!
Posted on: 12 August 2020 by George Relf/Luke Jennings
In partnership with Loughborough University and Santander, the Switch the Play Foundation has a new Marketing and Communications Intern, George Relf, who started on August 12th.
Since graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Sport Science and Management, George has been working to grow his understanding of the industry and explore different avenues within the sporting world. This led him nicely to Switch the Play Foundation and he was encouraged to apply for the internship through his connections within Graduate Careers. George is about to embark on further education, studying an MSc in Sport Business and Leadership at Loughborough’s London campus and we hope that Switch the Play can contribute to his ongoing success.
George will be curating and publishing key communications documents to Switched On members, partners and beyond, regarding exciting events and services that we have in the pipeline. He will play an important role in the development of an extensive fundraising strategy for Ride 100, as well as helping to create useful and insightful content to market the event successfully. Beyond this, he will look to use his knowledge of the sport to drive the success of our Charity Golf Day on 8th September. Alongside these events, George will be a useful addition to the team during this busy time, helping in the development of future projects such as the Athlete Advisory Pack and the Mental Health Support Service.
This internship was made possible through the Loughborough Talent Match programme. This University programme, which is partially funded by Santander, allows students to develop their employability. Recently, StP employed Jessie Smeding as an intern through the same scheme, and she continues to passionately support StP. For a charity like StP, it gives a fresh perspective and a talented individual who is passionate to help us develop the services further to help the charity thrive. This will be hugely beneficial given the circumstances we find ourselves in due to Covid-19. The StP team are excited to work with George virtually and demonstrate how effective an internship like this can be.
Welcome to the team George!
