StP SIGNS ARMED FORCES COVENANT TO SUPPORT SERVICE PERSONNEL WITH TRANSITION

Posted on: 26 June 2020 by Luke Jennings

The Switch the Play Foundation has become a Signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant. This means we can offer support to both serving personnel and veterans with their transition out of the armed forces.

Leaving a life in the armed forces can be a very similar experience to leaving a life in sport. For some, it is a difficult period of change with reports of a loss of identity, financial worries and mental health concerns. The covenant represents a promise by the nation that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly.

“We’re very proud to become signatories for the Armed Forces Covenant,” said Leon Lloyd, CEO of the Switch the Play Foundation. “Our background is in sport but there are many parallels between leaving a sports career and leaving a military one. In both, retirement can be a worrying prospect as most people need to start a second career. We recognise the value the military contributes to our country and in return, we want to offer our expertise in transition to help service personnel prepare for life once they retire.”
