Purpose of the masterclass
This masterclass will help you understand mental health better. By first exploring what mental health is, you will leave the masterclass with the tools to assess your own mental health. You will also be better aware of the signs of mental illness in yourself and others. Finally, there will be an opportunity to learn more about managing stress in sport and developing your resilience to better deal with stress in the future.
Who’s it for?
Individual sportspeople, groups of sportspeople (teams), dual-career athletes or sporting organisations/practitioners.
Why this masterclass?
Mental health, just like physical health, can fluctuate all of the time if we don't look after ourselves. One in four of us will be affected by mental illness. Sportspeople are no different, and with the added pressures of expectation, performance and life-changing transitions, the signs of mental illness in athletes must be spotted early to ensure they get the support they need. By attending this masterclass, you will be more aware of mental health and will be able to support yourself and those around you with mental health to ensure all sportspeople get the support they need, when they need it.
